The International Workshop on UI GreenMetric (IWGM) provides a global forum in the exchange of information, share ideas, and best practices among the universities leaders for promoting sustainability issue as a part of their main policy towards achieving sustainable campus operations.
Initially, the annual conference of IWGM is managed by the UI GreenMetric Secretariat. However, starting from 2017 onwards, considering many request from the participating universities, the IWGM is organized in collaboration with selected members of UI GreenMetric which high commitment to be a network hub representing UI GreenMetric in their national or regional scale. Up to now, there are three UI GreenMeric network hub have been established, they are: Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordania; Bulent Ecevit University, Turkey; and People’s Friendly University Rusia.
Following the success of 1st and 2nd IWGM in Indonesia, the 3rd IWGM will be held in Istanbul, Turkey on 9-11 April 2017, in collaboration with Bülent Ecevit University and Istanbul University. We expect more universities from Istanbul and surrounding, as well as across the globe will come, joint the workshop and UI GreenMetric WUR.
Now, it is our time as an education institution from developing- and developed-countries to works together, hand in hand mitigating the impact of global climate changes specifically that contributed from the daily academic-based activities. Hence, creating a “sustainable campus” is not just a “greenwashing” slogan, but essentially can be achieved through active participation involving the whole campus society.
We are looking forward to meet you in Istanbul !
